Quiet Years 1981
Synopsis
Cracow, the beginning of the twentieth century. Edward, a young doctor, returns to Cracow after his stay in Paris. Inspired by the meeting with the actors of the "Parnas" cabaret, he brings back memories of 1907, when "Parnas" was at its best, being the center of local artistic bohemia. Edward was then a young student who was in love with Jasna, the wife of Mag (the Magician) – the spiritual leader of the rebel artists. Soon Edward\'s cousin, Władzio, arrives secretly to Cracow with Amelia, the actress who Władzio had taken away from a tsarist officer. After some time Mag leaves Cracow, and Edward becomes Jasna\'s lover.
"Quiet Years" is a reference to the Polish "fin de siecle" and the "Young Poland" (Młoda Polska) formation.
