The Criminal Who Stole a Crime 1969

Synopsis

Siwy, a captain of the Citizen\'s Militia, retires at the age of forty-five after a severe heart attack. He tells a journalist visiting him at the nursing home about his last investigation. It concerned a mysterious death of Ewa Salm, called the Princess, who was a witness in a trial in which the defendant was sentenced to 9-year imprisonment. Despite defendant\'s guilty plea, Captain Siwy has doubts and – risking his own life – works towards busting the real murderer.
Based on the novel by Krzysztof Kąkolewski, the film was very well received by critics as "a model whodunnit," with a great and reserved acting of Zygmunt Hubner as Captain Siwy.
